The App is not downloading photos from Dropbox - what should I do?

Please check the following

  • has the App created a "Pics2Phone"-folder in your Dropbox (...Dropbox/Pics2Phone)? - if not, pls. see below
  • did you grant the App access to the camera-roll? - if not, please go to "Settings" -> "Privacy" -> "Photos" -> "Pics2Phone"-App -> Switch "On"
  • did you grant the App Access to Dropbox? - if not pls. shut down the App completely and restart it - at the respective screen, pls. grant the Pics2Phone App access to Dropbox, otherwise it does not work
  • did you receive a "Download-Error" warning? - if yes, either try downloading again by pressing the "Download now"-button on the App, usually this should do the job; if not, pls. grant the App access to the Camera-Roll (see above)
  • do your file-names contain apostrophes? if so, please remove them from the filename since we have reported incidents where the App crashes upon apostrophes in filenames

I followed all steps above, still no photos on my iPhone - what should I do?

Please be aware that by definition the folder "Dropbox/Pics2Phone" is empty when you launched the App for the first time. The App is not automatically downloading existing files or folder from Dropbox.

Since the App allows to choose the photos to be downloaded to the iPhone, the user has to copy/move all photos that should be moved to the folder "Dropbox/Pics2Phone" before hitting the "Download now" button on the App.

All the photos from Dropbox are appearing in my iPhone's Camera Roll - is this correct?

Yes, this is correct.

We are aware of the fact that this might be a bit confusing, but the background is the following and is given by the iOS Operating System

  • in Apple's "Photo-App", all photos are saved to the "Camera Roll"
  • if you create an Album, the photos still stay in the "Camera Roll" and are additionally displayed in the respective Album
  • so, you will find the photos in "Camera Roll" and "Pics2Phone" or any other album (=subfolder to Dropbox/Pics2Phone)

For the App to function, pls. do not delete the downloaded photos from the Camera Roll since they will the be also deleted in the respective Album. Pls. learn more here.

Do I have to create the "Pics2Phone"-Folder in my Dropbox manually?

No, the Pics2Phone App creates the folder for you.

Please note: You need to grant the App access to Dropbox, otherwise the App does not work.

The Pics2Phone-Folder is not created in my Dropbox - what should I do?

Please make sure to grant Pics2Phone access to your Dropbox after launching Pics2Phone for the first time. If you are not, the Pics2Phone App cannot create the folder in Dropbox.

In the unlikely case that the Pics2Phone folder is not be created in the Dropbox automatically, please go to Dropbox on your PC or iPhone/iPad and create the folder manually. The folder needs to sit directly in the Dropbox main folder and should be named "Pics2Phone" - that's all. You can then start adding photos to this folder and press "Download" on the Pics2Phone iPhone-App to download the photos to your iPhone.

Where can I find the "Pics2Phone"-Folder in my Dropbox?

The "Pics2Phone"-Folder is on Dropbox's top-level ("root").

In your Windows-Explorer/Mac look for the path "...Dropbox/Pics2Phone"
